The 9/11 Candlelight Vigil Committee was formed immediately following the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The Committee is made up of a group of volunteers from the Middle Village/Maspeth area. Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, a handful of community activists gathered together and formed what is now called The 9/11 Candlelight Vigil Committee of Queens.
9/11 Candlelight Vigil Committee’s mission is simple, but important. We believe that the lives lost on September 11, 2011 should always be remembered. With the efforts of our community and friends, we will be able to build the memorial garden at the base of the flagpole in Juniper Park, where our Vigil has been held each year. We look forward to many years of keeping the Vigil alive.
